What Success Looks Like In This Job

The Diversion Client Manager is a staff member who serves juvenile clients in the District Attorney’s Office Diversion Program. The Diversion Unit is part of the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office (Adams & Broomfield Counties) and operates as a counseling alternative to formal felony and misdemeanor case filing. The client manager supports and supervises clients according to each client’s referral and needs around substance use, mental health, skills, aggression, self-esteem, boundaries and other behavioral health issues. The client manager may assist clients accessing therapy outside of Diversion and may co-facilitate therapeutic groups, skills groups, community restorative circles, animal assisted canine therapy, and other groups and other special projects as assigned.


Note:
This is a regular full-time position for 40 hrs per week. Full or partial funding for this position is subject to the availability of grant funds. Positions funded by external grants may be subject to termination if the grant funding ceases. Positions funded by external grants will be reviewed by the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office for viability in the absence of grant funds.

Examples of Duties for Success

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Receives cases from Intake Counselor and implements Individual Case Plans for every individual referral, which determines, based on progress, the length of time that the person is in counseling.

Assists clients in obtaining all relevant outside services in the community such as therapy, medication management, employment services, community service.

Maintains client charts, progress notes and clinical documentation and records consistent with departmental policies and local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

A commitment to seeking justice, preserving community safety and making the criminal justice system better.

Ability to deliver evidenced based therapeutic services with fidelity to the practice such as Motivational Interviewing, criminogenic risk assessment, and skills development and practice with clients.

Awareness and experience with actuarial assessment tools, such as the SPIn, LSI, DVRNA, and the ability to critically evaluate criminogenic risk, need, and protective factors.

Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (MI), and either Team Decision Making (TDM) or Multi-Disciplinary (MDT) principles and practices.

Expertise in the development and implementation of case plans with clients to assist them in achieving measurable objectives and/or goals in a long term (6-12 month) care setting.

Knowledge of addiction, co-occurring, and trauma informed care treatment standards.

Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, creativity, and decisiveness to facilitate problem solving and the accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives.

Microsoft office (particularly Excel) proficiency, as well as experience using web-based software and/or assessment products.

Ability to quickly develop rapport with parents and young adults.

Time management skills with a knack for flexibility when supporting peers.

Qualifications for Success

Minimum Requirements

Training and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in one of the human behavioral science fields
  • One year of full-time professional client management, casework, or treatment/therapeutic center experience

Must have a valid Colorado Driver's License.

Highly Desirable Requirements:

The ability to speak, read and write Spanish with proficiency

Certified Addiction Technician (CAT)
